Pechanga attempts to shut down Predatory Pechanga and pays a Texas attorney instead of spending their tax free gambling revenue in California.

On March 22, 2024, the victim of Pechanga's predatory actions and the plaintiff in the $500,000 lawsuit against Pechanga received a threatening cease and desist order from Sanford E. Warren, Jr. of the law firm Warren Rhoades LLP. You would expect an organization that fleeces Californians of billions of dollars in their casino annually and does not pay California state taxes would at a minimum contribute back to the California economy by establishing a relationship with one of the thousands of competent and capable California law firms. Instead the Pechanga Band of Indians has a decades long relationship with Mr. Warren and his law firm Warren Rhoades LLP located and registered in Arlington, Texas. Mr. Warren does not possess a license to practice law in California and does not pay state taxes in California or Texas. Inconceivably Pechanga takes billions from California and Californians and then puts it back into out of state economies like Texas.

Unfortunately for Pechanga and Mr. Warren, the victim does not own the domain name or website affiliated with Predatory Pechanga and therefore does not have the authority to "cease use of their website and surrender their domain name immediately to Pechanga Band of Indians." Although Pechanga and Mr. Warren threatened not only the victim but the website hosting company with legal action, the website hosting company concluded that predatorypechanga.com was not in violation of their terms of service or infringed upon Pechanga's trademark as Mr. Warren and Pechanga allege.

Why would Pechanga want to take control of the domain name predatorypechanga.com and the affiliated website? Because the internet and social media coupled with the 1st Amendment have forever and finally given the public an opinion and a wide reaching voice.
